Day 1
New vocab words today; only 9 this week because of testing.
Then I collected your Short Story Parts 1-3 notes today.
Then we read over Shakespeare's Sonnet 2 and Sonnet 13. I passed out a worksheet with both poems on it.
Next, we will try to decide what the poem means.
Then, you will look for 5 literary devices in EACH of the sonnets, circle them, and list them on your worksheet.
Finally, you will answer questions about the poem on a new sheet of paper (the questions being asked are on the last page of your worksheet and listed below).

Questions to answer
Use modified ACE format to answer the following questions (remember what ACE stands for!):
- The term ‘love’ is used twice to address the subject. What is the significance of addressing the subject in this manner?
- We know the poet is speaking to another man (probably his lover!), but he is also talking about a different kind of love. What relationship is the poet really discussing?
- This sonnet falls into two main parts. Identify the two parts (what are the segments, and how did you know to separate them) and describe the arguments in each.
- What is the tone of the final couplet?
- How does this sonnet compare to Sonnet 2 in terms of content and argument?
