Day 1
First thing today you turned in your chapter 12 and 13 notes. New notes assigned: chapter 14. They are also in Google Classroom, and are due on Friday at the start of class.
No required articles this week. Instead, you can write an article to
replace a previous article in the gradebook! (Basically a makeup article).
These makeup articles will be due this Saturday night. Cannot be news or reviews. Remember, all articles need some sort of "research." This is usually in the form of interviews and quoting other students and staff members.
New assignment: you will have a list of photos to take on campus. ALL photos must follow our rules of photography (be GOOD photos). Make sure to upload all your photos into your Google Drive by WEDNESDAY, because you'll need to use them in class on Thursday.
Here is the list of photos:
Photos to Take Pt. 1
above except the face photos.
Also notes today! When we started talking about photography over a month ago, we discussed Adobe products before you learned to use Adobe Spark. I mentioned that the top of the line photo editing software is Adobe Photoshop. Because of funding as well as the limitations of your Chromebooks, we won't be using Photoshop.
Instead, we will be using an application called Pixlr. You can use it on your Chromebooks! Head to Google Classroom and take notes on the attachments in the Pixlr assignment. These notes are all about using the website Pixlr, and I give instructions on how to load Pixlr in your Chromebook.
These Pixlr notes are due TOMORROW!!!

Photos to Take Pt. 1
- Detail image of something with texture on campus.
- Something outdoors on campus, without people in it.
- Detailed photo of a face (must have the person's permission, no disruptions AT ALL).
- Juxtapositions - things that "don't mix" or "don't go" together usually, but seem to be surprisingly interesting when put together. (examples 1, examples 2).
- Photographing something that took someone else a lot of work, showing you noticed and care about the gesture. (Can be artwork outside classrooms...cannot be IN a classroom without permission, cannot be essays or writing-based).
