Day 1
SO many students did NOT do a "This I Believe" article even though
a) I wrote up a lot of background FOR you
b) you are all mostly on campus and have participated in the event before
c) probably saw the assembly on Friday.
That's pretty disappointing.
Due to the issues with article length and many students trying to skirt the system, we have to change the way article length requirement is worded.
Article writing 101:
Articles should be around 400-500 words (not including photos or the headline/byline!).
Reminder that ALL articles must include interviews/quotes/evidence, and the majority of articles will be written in third person.
Must include relevant photos or images/graphics in good quality that YOU OWN.
Reminder about article pitches:
Today MOST of you need to re-write your pitches; due at the end of class.
Once you're done re-writing your pitch, everyone who is writing an article needs to make a Doc and SHARE it with me TODAY or you won’t be writing an article this week. Start researching your article TODAY.
Those who are not writing articles need to do your in class assignment, which is also due at the end of class.

Reminder about article pitches:
- Pitches shouldn’t require me having to ask you a lot of questions. You should be prepared!
- Check out the Rattler Report Article Information Document linked on this week’s article assignment in Classroom – the second bullet is about writing pitches, and it has a new place to see a template on how to write a pitch. READ IT!
