- Parody - A parody (also called spoof, send-up or lampoon), is an work created to imitate, or comment on an original work by means of satire or irony.
- Satire - Satire is a genre where abuses…are held up to ridicule, usually with the intent of shaming someone (corporations, government or society itself) in order to IMPROVE the issue.
Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often constructive criticism, using wit as a weapon and a tool to draw attention to issues in society.

What is The Onion?
- The Onion is an American news satire organization. It runs an entertainment website featuring articles reporting on international, national, and local news. The Onion articles comment on current events, both real and fictional.
- It parodies traditional news websites with stories, editorials, op-ed pieces, and man-in-the-street interviews, using a traditional news website layout and an editorial voice modeled after that of the Associated Press. Its humor often depends on presenting mundane, everyday events as newsworthy, surreal or alarming.
