- According to the poem’s 1st stanza, what gives us scars?
- What is the truth about all people (2nd stanza)?
- According to the author, what do scars say about us?
- In the 5th stanza, what are we free of? Explain.
- Which poem do you like better and why?
"Cut" - Explain the simile found in stanza 2, and then explain the metaphor in stanza 4.
- Find and explain an example of personification in this poem.
- In the 6th - 7th stanzas, the author mentions both loving (babushka) and terrible people (KKK, kamikaze). How does this tie in to the meaning of the poem?
- How does the author feel about her injury overall? Explain.
